A Busy Month at MPA
The past few weeks at MPA have been filled with opportunities to learn, grow, serve, and make memories together! Our varsity teams have been busy competing, and we’re especially excited to celebrate our boys’ varsity soccer team, who are currently undefeated! We’re proud of all of our student-athletes and the hard work and sportsmanship they continue to demonstrate.
Outside of the classroom and on the field, our students have enjoyed several meaningful traditions. We gathered with MPA church members for our annual Church on the Mountain at the Mt. Pisgah Picnic Area. After worshiping together, we shared a delicious picnic lunch before heading out for a hike to the top of Mount Pisgah. It was a beautiful day to enjoy God’s creation and strengthen our MPA family. We also held our annual Trash Night, bringing plenty of creativity, competition, and laughter to campus. Our Campus Ministries Retreat gave students another opportunity to step away from their normal routines, grow spiritually, and build deeper connections with one another. This week, our students completed their fall MAP testing, giving our teachers valuable insight into each student’s academic progress and helping us better understand how to meet their individual learning needs. At the same time, our teachers continue to find creative ways to engage students through in-class projects, cooking experiences, outdoor learning, experiments, and so much more.
And beyond academics, students continue to participate in their work programs, developing responsibility, practicing valuable skills, and gaining experiences that will prepare them for the future. It has been a full and exciting few weeks at MPA, and we’re grateful for all the ways our students continue to learn, grow, and thrive!
Trash Night Tradition Continues
Trash Night brought plenty of energy, laughter, and school spirit to the field as students gathered for an evening of friendly competition between the classes. With the MPA gymnasium still undergoing renovations, this year’s Trash Night took place outside on the field, giving the event a fun change of scenery while allowing students to continue one of MPA’s favorite traditions.
The majority of the evening was centered around one of Trash Night’s most entertaining traditions: calling random items to the middle mat. Students raced to find and bring back whatever was requested, leading to plenty of hilarious moments and unexpected items. A giant stuffed banana, a pair of sunglasses, a cup of ramen, and plenty of other random objects all made their way to the mat as students scrambled to earn points for their class.
The evening also featured a variety of mini-games that tested students’ skills, creativity, and school spirit. Highlights included a handstand contest, singing the school song, and other challenges that had students cheering, laughing, and encouraging their classmates.
Every class brought plenty of enthusiasm, but when the final points were tallied, the sophomores came out on top, pulling out the win! Their teamwork and determination earned them bragging rights for the night. More than just a competition, Trash Night is a chance for students to come together, embrace MPA traditions, and make memories along the way.
Growing As Spiritual Leaders
Our Campus Ministries and Praise Team student leaders recently traveled to Nosoca Pines Ranch for a weekend dedicated to spiritual growth, leadership training, and fellowship. Throughout the retreat, students participated in team-building activities, sang together, worshiped, and spent intentional time learning what it means to be a spiritual leader.
The weekend was designed to equip these students to lead not only through programs and worship but through their everyday example. As they return to campus, we are excited to see how they will use what they learned to encourage and inspire their fellow students.
We are so grateful for these student leaders and the ways God is working through them. We can’t wait to see how He continues to transform the spiritual atmosphere on our campus through their leadership!
