WEEK OF PRAYER MAKES AN IMPACT

Written by Jade Burrell, '27

Several weeks ago, our campus came together for a powerful Week of Prayer led by Chaplain Corey Johnson, centered around the theme "The Climb." Each day, Chaplain Johnson encouraged us to view life as a journey of growth—reminding us that reaching big goals starts with setting smaller, meaningful steps along the way.

"The climb isn't just about the top," he shared. "It's about learning, growing, and trusting God with each step." Through inspiring messages, heartfelt worship, and moments of reflection, students and staff were reminded to stay faithful during life's challenges and to celebrate the progress they make—no matter how small it may seem.

JUNIOR CLASS EXPERIENCES AMERICAN HISTORY

Written by Emma Sorrells, '27

This year, the junior class had the privilege of going on a week-long tour throughout New England. We were excited for many weeks leading up to the trip and couldn’t wait until the day finally arrived. Our days were spent exploring museums, National monuments, and historic sites, and we spent a lot of time on the bus. While we were only on the trip for about a week, we did so many things and learned so much that it felt like much longer.

The best parts (according to my classmates and me) had to be exploring New York City and Boston. Both of those places were amazing to see. In NYC, we saw Wall Street, the 9/11 Memorial, and the Statue of Liberty. Each site was better than the previous, and seeing the 9/11 Memorial was surreal. Boston was a long day as we visited various historic sites in the morning and walked the Freedom Trail in the afternoon, just to get on the bus for 16 hours after to return home. Although there was a lot to do, we enjoyed everything we saw, and we did not want to leave when the time came.

I learned a few important things from this trip: Quality time is important, don’t take things for granted, and learn as much as you can. Quality time is important because it allows us to become more open-minded with others and it helps us grow together. Especially at a boarding school, it is important for classmates to be close to each other because we live together and it promotes better learning through communication. This trip helped me realize that quality time with my class is crucial to the betterment of our relationships, and I should spend more time with them.

The next thing I was reminded of in importance is not to take things for granted. While exploring all around these sites and cities, we were not only reminded of the ones who have fought for us and lost their lives, but we were also reminded of many without proper living situations. Along the streets and in food markets, we saw people asking for our help. My heart goes out to those people we saw, and we are reminded of how lucky we are to have the life we have.

The last point I realized during the trip is to learn as much as you can. While we are still young, our brains are more open to learning, and we crave knowledge. On this trip, we were fed much information, and I hope that each piece of it will stay with me for a long time. I want to take in as much as I can, while I still can. I not only learned from the places I went, but from the people I talked to and the moments I shared. I hope the class of 2027 can all say we are grateful to have had this experience.

SENIORS BOND IN ORLANDO

Written by Lexi Downs, '26

My senior class trip to Orlando, Florida, was an unforgettable experience filled with laughter, adventure, and lasting memories. From the moment we arrived, the excitement was nonstop as we explored some of the best attractions Florida has to offer. We kicked off our trip with a thrilling visit to a theme park—riding through scenes from our favorite films and enjoying the energetic atmosphere of the park. Next, Busch Gardens, where the roller coasters and animal exhibits gave us a perfect blend of adrenaline and awe. SeaWorld added a whole new level of excitement with its incredible marine life shows and high-speed rides, giving us a fun and educational experience. One of the most relaxing stops on our itinerary was Disney Springs, where we had time to shop, enjoy delicious food, and take in the lively surroundings without the rush of theme park lines.

In between all the excursions, we made the most of our Airbnb, which had its own waterpark nearby. We had a blast cooling off on the slides and in the pool during the hot Florida afternoons. Back at the house, the private pool was a favorite hangout spot—perfect for swimming, playing games, and just relaxing. Evenings were spent watching movies together in the home theater, which became one of our favorite traditions during the trip.

More than the destinations themselves, what made the trip truly special was the time we spent with each other. It was one of our last big trips together before graduation, and we made it count. We laughed endlessly, made memories we’ll talk about for years, and strengthened friendships that will last long beyond high school. Our senior trip was everything we hoped for and more—a perfect way to celebrate the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.

EXCITING CHANGES ON CAMPUS

This week, our new outdoor sports complex was completed! The old tennis courts have been resurfaced and now include three pickleball courts, a tennis court, and a basketball court. Additionally, the fencing surrounding the space has been redone. This space will be available to the staff and students to enjoy recreation while building a stronger community.

Additionally, the pavement surrounding the administration was redone several weeks ago, providing a fresh, smooth surface for vehicles and pedestrians.

We are excited about the changes occurring on campus as we continue to make improvements to better serve our students.
