THE BATTLE IN ME
Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will be standing firm. Ephesians 6:13
I once heard a story about a wise old Cherokee chief who was trying to teach his grandson a lesson. He sat his grandson down and told him that there was a battle going on inside of him, that it was a terrible fight between two powerful wolves. One is evil; he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, false pride, self pity, and lies. The other is good. He is love, joy, hope, peace, kindness, truth, and compassion. The chief hesitated for a second to let his grandson ponder this. Then he told him that the same fight was going on inside him and inside every other person, too. The grandson thought about his grandfather’s words for a moment, then asked him, “Which wolf will win?” The old chief looked at his grandson, then simply replied, “The one you feed.”
This story is true in everyone. Everyday, God and Satan are battling — battling for your soul. God is love, joy, hope, peace, kindness, truth, and compassion. Satan is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, false pride, self pity, and lies. The more you listen to the wolf in you, the more you will become more like that wolf. Every negative choice you make feeds a wolf. Every choice you make shows whose side you are on. So, which wolf will you feed?
