LOSING BATTLES, WINNING WARS

When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. Proverbs 11:2

In the middle of basketball season, I had a sprained ankle that caused me to sit out for a couple games and a tournament. Since basketball meant so much to me, the deans tried their very best to get me back on the court. Specifically, one day when I was doing treatment for my ankle, I had a breakdown. This is because, for me, basketball is my therapy, and when I get upset, I play basketball. During the injury it was not there for me. In the midst of all this, life really hit. God was teaching me humility and patience. God showed himself in that dark period. But God, my friends, my family, and the deans were telling me to make the best of this because God did this for the right reason. I had a hard time coping with this because of the timing of my injury. I prayed and asked for wisdom, and the time I spent on the bench allowed me to become an encourager and uplifter. I was humbled. God can use you in other ways and when it is time to step up to your call, He will call. So just be patient and willing to be uncomfortable. In conclusion, at the time I thought it was unfair, but looking back now, I see this was a lesson well learned on humility and I was able to be there encouraging my team.
